THE 1000 WORDS DECK
What is Anki ?
Anki is a free app that helps you learn and remember things more effectively using digital flashcards. What makes Anki special is that it schedules reviews for you based on how well you remember each card. If something is easy, you won’t see it for a while, but if it’s hard, it will show up more often—this helps you remember things long-term without spending hours reviewing.
Where do I get Anki ?
Getting started is easy! Go to Anki’s official website to download it for free on your computer (Windows, macOS, or Linux). If you want it on your phone, download AnkiDroid for Android (free) or AnkiMobile for iPhone (paid). Once installed, you can load the decks I’ve created—they’re ready to go!
Why Anki for language learning ?
Anki is an amazing tool for language learning because it helps you remember vocabulary, pronunciation, and sentence structures in a way that sticks. Each card introduces a word with its meaning, audio for pronunciation, and example sentences to show you how it’s used in context. This combination helps you not only recognize the word but also understand how to use it naturally in conversations. The spaced repetition feature ensures you’ll hear the words and sentences at just the right intervals to improve your listening comprehension and reinforce grammar patterns naturally.
Are the Decks enough ?
The decks I’ve created are designed to be helpful companions in your learning journey. They are not sufficient and they are not meant to replace other aspects of learning but to support them by giving you a strong foundation. By helping you memorize vocabulary, pronunciation, and example sentences efficiently, the decks ensure you have something solid to build on. Think of them as a base — you can rely on them to lock in the essentials, like key words and phrases, while you focus on more dynamic aspects of language learning. Whether you’re practicing speaking, listening, or exploring grammar in depth, these decks will keep your core knowledge strong and ready to use, making your overall progress smoother and more rewarding. They’re here to make learning easier, so you can focus on what matters most: using the language in real life!
